Intro to the AR-15

An 8 hour Class Basic Class – September 19. 2009

Steve Quill will be the instructor with limited assistance from Bob Jahn .  Steve is retired from Wright County Sheriff's office after 30 years of service.  For 25 of these years he trained 100's of deputies in all weapons and also trained numerous SWAT teams.  As Chief RO and Trainer for the Sportmans Club in Monticello Steve has trained 100s of folks for their carry permit. We personally vouch he is an excellent NRA certified instructor and have worked with him many times.

Course cost will be be $175 and required equipment list will be supplied after registration and payment.  Expect to shoot 150 rounds, but bring twice that much.  Course costs includes lunch, water, soda and all class materials ( targets and  class materials).  John Farnam's Rifle\Shotgun text book is recommended reading


This class has to be limited to AR15 style of rifles, all the class material and hands on is work for this weapon system.  (caliber doesn't matter,but gun systems all  have to be the same). So no you can't bring an AK,M1, etc , etc.

    0910-1015    Assembly / Disassembly / Maintenance

    1015-1030    Break

    1030-1100    Ballistics  (.223 Ammunition)

    1100-1130    Marksmanship / Zeroing / Shooting Fundamentals

    1130-1215    Short Drill Sequence

    1215-1315    Lunch Provided and Included in Course Cost *

    1315-1415    Zero @ 25 Meters

    1415-1445    Shooting Positions / trigger control drills

    1445-1515    Qualification Course / Practice

    1515-1530    Break

    1530-1600    Shoot Qualification Course

    1600-1700    Clean guns / Inspection / Closing Statements

* We will have regular and diet sodas and plenty of water to drink.  Lunch will be a selection of sandwiches, chips and cookies.  Special diet, please bring your own food.


For the AR/M4 course above if the date and agenda suits your needs you can register on line at our website and just list these dates and times.  Our refund policy for this specialty class is full refund up to 30 days before the class, and a $50 surcharge if more than 15 days notice is given.  Less than 2 weeks, no refunds unless we are able to fill your slot, and there is still a $50 surcharge for canceling.  Demand is high, attendance is limited to 16, so we expect to fill this class.
