Renew Your MN Permit Training

An 4 hour Class that Qualifies for the MN Renewal Permit & Utah Carry Permits

Minnesota Law allows you to take your training up to a year before you need to renew your permit, you can renew it up to 90 days ahead. Don’t delay, renew that permit now!

What We Teach

This course is enhance and refresh your skills in Personal Protection.  You earn a certificate of completion certifying you have met the all training requirements of Minnesota and Utah  law to receive permit to carry . This class is a solid learning experience with a chance to practice the skills and discuss techniques with knowledgeable NRA trained instructors.

We limit class size to provide individual attention and both instructors are experienced and skilled trainers with lots of practical and teaching experience.

Topics specifically covered include:

Topic 1:        Review the Six Shooting Fundamentals - Grip, Sight picture, Sight Alignment, Trigger Squeeze, Breath Control, Follow Through – 60 minutes

Topic 2:        Minnesota & Federal Laws on Firearms and Self Defense - 60 minutes

Topic 3:        Selecting the Correct Handgun, Holster & Equipment  for Self Defense –  30 Minutes

Topic 4:        Introduction to Basic and  Defensive Shooting Techniques -   30 minutes

Topic 5:        Range Work and Shooting Test – 60 Minutes

We have worked with many, many students and have a variety of techniques to help you understand the operation and tactical deployment of your firearm. We strongly believe people learn by doing so we demonstrate and you actually do the procedures demonstrated in a safe environment.

As active shooters in International Defensive Pistol Association we are familiar with many different holster types and manufacturers and can guide you in selecting a gun and holster that is right for you. We reserve the right to reject any student whose prior training and/or attitude does not meet our standards.  This course is strictly for prior permit holders or persons whose current experience and exposure to handguns, in our opinion, qualify them for this intermediate class.

When, Where and What Does It Cost

We have set the course cost at $95.00. That includes all the materials, targets, course supplies and any eye and ear protection required.  If you don’t already own a defensive handgun wait, take the class, try a variety and let us help fit you with the correct handgun for your needs. That’s $ 95 total for a premier class that qualifies you to carry in Minnesota for another 5 years.

Bob is also a Utah certified Concealed Firearms instructor and can train and certify you for the Utah Carry permit for an additional $10.  This permit adds over 15 additional states were you can legally carry according to that states law. Details are available in class and all required forms are included in the training.

 We have over 4 hours of class time.  Generally we teach this class in the evening from 6:00pm to 10:00pm.  There is a 60 shot range test you must pass, but no written test for the renewal .

What Do I Need to Bring

A good attitude and a desire to learn and have fun.  100 rounds of reliable ammo should be plenty, but it’s always good to have more. A reliable gun, holster, mag pouch and all the magazines you have are a good thing too.

About the Instructors

Bob Jahn is president and a co founder of the Twin Cities IDPA chapter.  He is a 5 Gun Marksman in IDPA and a graduate of Front Sight's 4 Day Handgun class, LFI I, DTI Intermediate and Advanced Handgun and 2 Final Option Advanced Carry Classes. He is certified as a Personal Protection Pistol instructor by the states of MN and Utah, as well as the NRA.

Jon is certified as an Personal Protection Pistol Instructor by the NRA and by REJ Firearms Training as a MN carry permit instructor. Jon also has the graduated from DTI's Intermediate and Advanced Handgun Class. Jon is also a Federal Firearms License Class 1 stocking dealer and can obtain almost any legal firearm for you.  Jon is a Marksman in IDPA's CDP class and a Sharpshooter in the SSP and ESP pistol classes.

All classes are offered by the instructors’ limited liability corporations where they serve as governors .
