New Shooter Training

2 Classes - One 3 hours long and another 2 hours long

What We Teach

The 3 hour class is for new shooters who want a grounding in basic safety practices, handgun types, handgun basics and how to practice safely. The focus is on one gun you own and how to use it safely and responsibly.  You earn an NRA certificate in Home Firearms Safety. This class is a solid learning experience with some on range time to practice the skills shown and allow for safe practice indoors or out.

The second 2 hour class is aimed at folks who have used a gun before and have basic knowledge of safe gun handling. We often see shot gunners or rifleman who decide to try handguns. While the basic rules don't change the handgun is a different tool and must be treated differently. In this class we focus on how to use a handgun safely and loan you up to two handguns so you can try different types and models. Here we spend an hour in the classroom and an hour on the range. We limit class size to provide individual attention and both instructors are experienced and skilled trainers.

We strongly believe people learn by doing so we demonstrate and you actually do the procedures demonstrated in a safe environment. We are accident free and plan to keep this record intact.

As active shooters in International Defensive Pistol Association we are familiar with many different holster types and manufacturers and can guide you in selecting a gun and holster that is right for you.

When, Where and What Does It Cost

We have set the course cost at $100 for the 2 hour class and $125 for the 3 hour class for prepaid classes. That includes the targets, course supplies and any eye and ear protection required. We now add a $10 surcharge to pay at the class due to people not keeping reservations and our desire to keep costs low.

What Do I Need to Bring

A good attitude and a desire to learn and have fun.  100 rounds of reliable ammo should be plenty, but it’s always good to have more. A reliable gun, a case and all the magazines you have are a good thing too. If you don’t already own a defensive handgun wait, take the class, and try a variety.
